FIELD DATA CAPTURERS
WELCOME TO DLANGUBO CWP
Umlalazi in Northern KwaZulu-Natal near Empangeni is one of the poorest CWP sites. Unemployment is high in this sprawling rural area where many people still own livestock. A big problem is the effects of HIV and AIDS, which has left many children orphaned.
These children are either living with gogos (grandmothers) or on their own with their siblings in child-headed households. The CWP is actively looking for these vulnerable children and helping them such as building basic structures like rondavels for them and helping feed them.
It recently built rondavels for seven orphans at Mngampondo. Before CWP, these seven children didn’t have a place to sleep. They were all sleeping in one mud house battling the rain and cold. Among the other problems people face is access to water. Many people still collect daily from the river and, in some areas, from water supply tankers.
