TIPS is a non-for-profit company working in the field of policy development. The organisation is based in Pretoria and was established at the request of senior policymakers of the new South African government in 1996. It became a Section 21 Company in 2001.
Its working model integrates research, policy development, advice, disseminating information, capacity building, technical support and programme design and management.
TIPS provides services across a number of theme areas. Its main focus at present is:

- Inequality and Economic inclusion
